I share your uneasiness with the current way we conceive of light. Your post showing that the photon experiences zero time, no matter how far it travels, and now that the same photon can transmit energy but has no mass, leads me to think that we aren't thinking about light correctly.
My thought is that anything that appears to travel with zero time elapsing is actually everywhere. So maybe the ether IS light? Maybe the ancient explanation of the stars being pinholes in the canopy shading Earth from the light of Heaven was and wasn't literal?
The previous result has very important consequences on photons, assuming that the energy of the electromagnetic wave corresponds to that of the photons. Indeed in the absence of additional fields (gravitational for instance) which might bring a form of potential energy, all the photon’s energy is in kinetic form (displacement and vibration). Assume now an electromagnetic wave with frequency
ν
, associated with a single photon of mass
m
0
, by Planck-Einstein’ s formula we have, even without having to assume that photons travel at speed c, the inequality
h
ν
=
ℰ
(
m
0
,
v
)
≤
m
0
c
2
hence
m
0
≥
h
ν
c
2
.
In particular we have
• Photons have positive masses at rest!
• Their mass when moving at velocity c becomes infinite.
• However their kinetic energy is finite, and at most equal to
m
0
c
2
with
m
0
their mass at rest.
• High frequency waves are carried by photons with high masses at rest. In particular different photons have different masses, unless usual elementary particles.
Fun! If you watch For All Mankind, a photon sail is used to get NASA to Mars.
Speak for yourself. Sunlight has felt like it was pushing on me my whole life.

Martin van der Mark disagrees.

Cool! I never knew light actually pushed us!
Photons have mass,may be miniscule,but still mass,,👍
Nope. They don’t. Read https://profoundphysics.com/why-do-photons-have-no-mass-simple-proof/
They don't have rest mass,,
Relativistic mass,,maybe
Nope.

I tried to post a link, won't let me,,,
Relativistic mass,,
It was a good article, but it even said it was massless 👍👍

Thanks Sir,,
I'm trying to fathom in my limited brain 😀😀,,how dark matter can affect the speed of stars in the outer ring of spiral galaxies??
So that the outer stars travel at the same speed as the inner stars,or very close too,,
Any help for me??
